AGENOR MAFRA-NETO — PRESIDENT OF ISCA TECHNOLOGIES

The CEO and founder of ISCA Technologies, Inc., Dr. Agenor Mafra-Neto, holds a doctorate in entomologyand is an expert in the fields of insect behavior, chemical ecology and agricultural ecology. He has developed innumerous tools to monitor and suppress insect pests and has ample experience with insect pest monitoring programs, monitoring technology and behavioral assays. Dr. Mafra-Neto has accomplished postdoctoral work in entomology at Iowa State University, earned his Ph.D. in Entomology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, an M.S. and B.S., both in Biology from Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

As a Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-PI, Dr Mafra-Neto has been awarded more than $5 million in federal funding for the research and development of innovative integrated pest management solutions. As an inventor and co-inventor, he currently holds 2 patents and has 2 patents pending. Dr. Mafra-Neto is the founder and largest shareholder of ISCA Technologies, Inc., and its Brazilian associate company ISCA Technologias Ltda.

The mission of ISCA Technologies is to provide integrated pest management solutions that are economical, effective, environmentally friendly, and importantly, do not have the harmful side effects of many conventional pest management techniques that rely solely on insecticides. Its products include more than 300 species specific insect lures and traps, and a range of innovative pest management tools such as the Moritor Pest Managemen Information System and automated insect identification devices.

ALEX IVASCU - PRESIDENT & CEO, IT VIZION, INC.

Alex Ivascu is the president and CEO of a progressive technology solutions firm named IT Vizion, Inc.  With a focus on Managed Services, IT Vizion brings a knowledge driven system and application management service to the SMB market using an integrated, automated and cost-effective platform.


Prior to founding IT Vizion, Alex held numerous senior technology positions with Fortune 100 and startup companies. The experience allowed him to gain insight into how these successful organizations operate, and motivated him to create his own company.  Now he manages and automates technology services for his corporate clients.  Alex committed himself to helping small and medium sized companies benefit from his experience and service offerings without the high overhead costs.

AMRO ALBANNA - CHAIRMAN & CEO, AVISIO
Founder, RTCF


As founder of two startup technology companies, Albanna has many years of experience managing and growing public and private companies.  With a keen ability to turn concepts into well capitalized ventures, his first startup was acquired by a NASDAQ-listed company in 2000 and was later involved in a reverse merger transaction on the American Stock Exchange.

Current Chairman & CEO of Avisio Corporation, Albanna directed the development of active motion video game controllers for the Microsoft Xbox and Sony Playstation consoles.  He is also a business consultant specializing in capital formation, growth via M&A and joint ventures, strategic planning, global sales and marketing, and business development in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Holding a B.S. in Business Administration with a focus on Computer Information Systems from California State University San Bernardino, Albanna expanded his technology proficiency through graduate coursework in Computer Science and Engineering from CSU Long Beach and the Claremont Graduate School.

He continues to strengthen his connection to the Southern California business community by serving on various boards such as CSU’s Center for Entrepreneurship and the City of Riverside’s SmartRiverside initiative.  His professional affiliations include the University of Southern California Trojans CEO Forum, the Riverside Technology CEO Forum, and the Tech Coast Angels.

Albanna’s expertise has been recognized by numerous awards including a United States Presidential Citation Award and a Small Business of the Year Award.  A motivational and inspirational speaker, Albanna is frequently called on by companies and universities to share his lessons in business, entrepreneurship and engineering.

BRIAN N. HAWLEY - CHAIRMAN & CTO, LUMINEX
Founder & Past Chairman, RTCF

Founded in 1994, this privately held, global, growing, and consistently profi table company develops distinctive data storage products based on proven technologies that tackle the complex challenges of storing, archiving, distributing and protecting data. In 2002 and 2003, Luminex was named to the Deloitte Fast50 list as being one of the fastest growing technology companies in Southern California. In 2003, Luminex was one of the select few named to both the Inc. Magazine Inc. 500 and Deloitte Fast500 as one of the 500 fastest growing companies in the United States. Luminex is headquartered in Riverside, California and has additional development offices in San Diego, California and Beaverton, Oregon.

Prior to co-founding Luminex, Mr. Hawley owned and managed Computer Systems International, a consulting firm specializing in corporate business computing and software development in a variety of industries. In addition to being actively involved with various city and community organizations, he has participated in industry standards committees, including the DIS/IEC 13346 and DIS/IES 13490 which addresses industry formats for optical and multi-session CD-Recording.

DIETMAR BAUR - VP Business Operations & Finance OF Encore Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Dietmar Baur joined EncorePharma in early 2002 and is in charge of the financial, organizational, and commercial aspects of the company.

Encore Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a drug discovery and development organization focused on early steps in streamlining the introduction of effective new products to the healthcare marketplace. The company currently works in the fields of Alzheimer’s disease, Cancer, other neurodegenerative Diseases, and Obesity.

Donald Dye joined the Company (then known as Swiftcomm, Inc.) in 2003 and has managed the Company as President and Chief Executive Officer since.

Acorn Technology Corporation is a provider of out-sourced IT services for small to medium sized businesses in southern California and, under its dba MarquisNet Riverside, is the owner of a Tier 4, 23,000 square feet data center available for co-location; disaster recovery and managed IT services.  Over the last 5 years, the Company has experienced significant growth in Revenue, Gross Profit and EBITDA.

Mr. Dye is a member of the Board of Directors for the UCR Foundation; a member of the Board of Trustees for the University of Redlands; Director Emeritus for the Ida Cason Callaway Foundation; former Dean for the A. Drew Jorgenson is the founder and CEO of OmniPlatform, which develops enterprise software solutions for a growing client base in the United States and internationally. Its latest product lines service process needs of Start-ups, SME's and Fortune 500 corporations.

ELENA BEKYAROVA - PRESIDENT & CEO, CARBON SOLUTIONS, INC.

Dr. Elena Bekyarova became President and CEO of Carbon Solutions Inc. in 2006. The company is focused on the chemical processing and dissolution of carbon materials for use in advanced applications.

Dr. Bekyarova has a PhD degree in Chemistry and an MS in Chemical Engineering. She began her carrier in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, where she studied activated carbon – supported catalysts for environmental remediation. She worked as a postdoctoral fellow in leading research groups in Italy, Japan and USA.  Dr. Bekyarova has extensive experience in the synthesis, processing and characterization of carbon-based materials with a particular focus on the chemistry, processing and purification of carbon nanotubes and the fabrication of electronic devices, functional structures and composites based on carbon nanotubes.

GORDON BOURNS - CHAIRMAN & CEO, BOURNS INC.

Gordon Bourns joined the Bourns, Inc. in 1973 and has managed various business units and operations within the Company since that time. He was elected Chairman of the Board in December 1988 by the Company’s Board of Directors, and was also elected President in 1990.

Mr. Bourns now serves as the Company’s Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Bourns heads a worldwide electronics corporation, which manufactures more than 3,000 different products at 12 domestic and international facilities, with over 4,000 employees worldwide. Mr. Bourns is the son of the co-founders of Bourns, Inc., Marlan and Rosemary Bourns.

Mr. Bourns represented Bourns, Inc. in 1994 when the Corporation received the prestigious Entrepreneur Of The Year® Award from Inc ® Magazine. Mr. Bourns currently focuses much of his attention on strategic planning to accomplish the Company’s Strategic Plan, which will double the sales and profits of Bourns over a five-year period. Mr. Bourns has led the Bourns commitment to the Six Sigma and Bourns Production System quality process to assure the Company meets or exceeds customer requirements and specifications, while anticipating future needs through the continuous improvement of people, processes, products and services.

HELEN CHEN - Vice President of Business Development, Ambryx Biotechnology, Inc.

Dr. Helen Chen oversees the business strategic development of Ambryx therapeutics.

Ambryx Biotechnology Inc. is a privately held company founded in 1997.  Its mission is to develop naturally occurring bioactive peptides into safe, effective therapeutics to treat cancer and obesity. Ambryx began as a leading edge cancer drug discovery company.  Ambryx’s proprietary R-ACT technology platform yielded a portfolio of patented therapeutic proteins effective in both human cancer cell lines and in animal models.  In October 2004, a group of peptides with anti-obesity was discovered by Ambryx scientists.  Clinical safety and efficacy studies are currently underway.

Prior to joining Ambryx, Dr. Chen was a project analyst at Beachhead Consulting, a leading strategic advisement firm to companies specializing in drug discovery tools and development.  She was also the co-founder and partner of the Technology Evaluation Group, a consulting firm that specializes in the technology assessment of pharmaceutical compounds and medical devices for venture capitalists and biotech start-up companies.  She received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the university of California, San Diego, and her B.S. degree from Yale University.

HEMANT MISTRY - CEO, JAYCO INTERFACE TECHNOLOGY, INC.

Hemant Mistry is CEO of Jayco Interface Technology, Inc., and Jayco mmi, Inc. Jayco designs, engineers and manufactures custom product and user interfaces including control panel assemblies, membrane switches, keypads and touch screens for professional and high-end consumer applications.

Jayco’s products are widely used in a variety of electronic devices including medical, military, aviation, automotive, mobile, test and laboratory equipment, security, communications, industrial, commercial and consumer. Jayco’s customers include Alcon Surgical, Conmed, Dacor, Rockwell, Goodrich, L3, SAIC, Trimble Navigation, and many smaller companies.

Jayco mmi, Inc. was formed to penetrate new markets through strategic alliances with International companies with manufacturing facilities in Japan, Singapore, China, and Taiwan. Through these alliances Jayco offers extensive high volume manufacturing facilities for applications such as residential audio, automotive, gaming and commercial credit card verification systems. A new direction for Jayco mmi, Inc. is military and defense applications and in support of these markets Jayco became ITAR registered in 2008. Before coming to USA in 1984, Hemant was Sales Director of Jayco Plastics Ltd in England – a sister company specializing in laminated and metalized plastic materials. Prior to that he worked in the syndicated loans department of Hill Samuel & Co., a merchant bank in the City of London.

Hemant has a BA degree with honors from the Polytechnic of Central London, a Diploma in Management Science from the Birklands Management Center, and an MBA from Pepperdine University. Hemant has also served Vice Chairman of the Electronics Committee and as Co-Chairman for the Membrane Switch Sub-Committee at the American Society for Testing and Materials. 


 
 

RAJAN KASETTY - PRESIDENT & CEO, TERRAFORE, INC.


Rajan Kasetty is the CEO and co-founder of Terrafore, Inc., a Consulting and Technology Development Company in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Prior to starting Terrafore, Rajan was the CEO of Infotech Enterprises America, Inc., part of a global group of companies with 22 Global locations, offering Engineering Design and IT services for aerospace, automotive and industrial customers and Geographical Information Systems for utilities, transportation and government customers. Rajan was also a founding Director on the Board of the parent company in India. He also established and ran the company’s subsidiaries in USA, Puerto Rico and Canada.

He has been an entrepreneur since 1976 in engineering, consulting, manufacturing and IT sectors working with international clients and customers. Rajan’s entrepreneurial experience includes, large power systems, pumping and irrigation systems, manufacture of special duty pumps, machine-tool automation, engineering design, IT and GIS services.

Rajan has been living in Riverside since 1999 and has been a Member of the High Tech Task Force of the City of Riverside and is a Board Member of SmartRiverside. He is a volunteer with the Clean Tech Open and mentors participating startup companies in the competition.

Ricky E. Risner - President & CEO, ESI Technology Group, Inc.

Rick Risner has served as the Chairman, CEO, and President of ESI Technology Group, Inc. since its inception in 2003.  ESI is a Managed Services Provider delivering IT services that proactively manage the full range of client’s IT assets throughout the United States and the United Kingdom. Additionally ESI is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner with competencies in Networking Infrastructure, Business Intelligence, Information Worker systems, and Network Security. 

Mr. Risner has a passion for mentoring students and entrepreneurs.  He currently serves on the Alvord USD Technology Advisory Council, where he helps determine fields of study, 
selects curriculum and instructors, and provides advice on technical requirements for the tech labs. He is also a guest lecturer and part-time instructor.  Mr. Risner acts as a mentor to graduate students at the University of California Riverside, through the Riverside CEO Technology Forum.  He also is a member of the EDC of Southwest California, serving on the Southwest California Technology and Southwest California Connected Program Committees, to provide entrepreneurs the opportunity to connect with the resources they need to be successful.  Mr. Risner is also part of the San Diego Tech America CEO Roundtable. Prior to founding ESI, Mr. Risner established and led a boutique IT firm specializing in the hospitality industry.  While an engineer for Booze Allen Hamilton, Mr. Risner worked on projects under the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command; and as a private consultant worked on special projects for Sanyo North America.  Mr. Risner retired as a Chief Warrant Officer Four from the United States Marine Corps after 21 years of honorable service.  

Mr. Risner holds a Masters in Telecommunications Systems Management and a Bachelors in Computer Science, both from National University.  He holds several Microsoft certifications 
and is a graduate of the Microsoft Systems Engineer Program at the University of California, San Diego.

Sundip R. Doshi serves as Chairman, CEO and Chief Architect of Surado since its founding in 1995. TUMAY O. TUMER PH.D — FOUNDER, PRESIDENT & CEO OF NOVA R&D, Inc

Dr. Tumay O. Tumer founded NOVA R&D, Inc. in 1984 with the vision to transform the tools of x-ray and gamma ray astrophysics into instruments serving the needs of medicine, homeland security and industry. A researcher at the Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics, University of California, Riverside, for over twenty years, he recently retired to devote himself full-time to the company.

Drawing strength from an international team of seasoned experimental physicists and electronics engineers,NOVA specializes in the development of innovative radiation detector technologies. Its principal focus is on the design and production of novel mixed-signal, multi-channel microchips, electronics boards, firmware and software for the readout of state-of-the-art radiation detectors. The company offers a line of standard ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) and support electronics as well as custom design services. MICHALIS FALOUTSOS - PROFESSOR, COMPUTER SCIENCE DEPARTMENT, UCR

Dr. Michalis Faloutsos is a faculty member at the Computer Science Dpt in the University of California, Riverside.  He obtained his bachelor's degree at the National Technical University of Athens and his M.Sc and Ph.D. at the University of Toronto (1999).  His interests include, Internet and web security, Internet protocols and measurements, routing, and ad-hoc networks.  He has co-authored more than 100 scientific publications. With his two brothers, he co-authored the paper on power-laws of the Internet topology (SIGCOMM'99), which is in the top 15 most cited papers of 1999.  His work has been supported by many NSF and DAPRA grants, including the prestigious NSF CAREER award for a cumulative total of more than $6 million. He has collaborations and grants with industry (CISCO, Intel, Qualcomm). KEITH MONTGOMERY -

OWNER &VP OF OPERATIONS & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT, DISCOVIX, INC.

Mr. Montgomery has over 15 years international business development and project management

Walid Najjar- FOUNDER, Jacquard Computing

Dr. Walid Najjar is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California, Riverside.  His recent research focus is in the area of compilation for FPGA-based code acceleration and reconfigurable computing.  NSF, DARPA, IBA, CISCO, and various industry sponsors have supported his research.  He received a B.E. in Electrical Engineering from the American University of Beirut in 1979 and M.S. (1985) and Ph.D. (1988) in Computer Engineering from the University of Southern California.  He is a Fellow of the IEEE and the AAAS.



At UCR he has led the ROCCC Project (Riverside Optimizing Compiler for Configurable Computing) that is currently being developed by Jacquard Computing Inc., of which he is the founder.
